Hello!
I'm Matt, a new graduate from the University of South Australia's Bachelor of Visual Communication.

As a design student, I've found that you tend to look at things differently. Colour, for one, becomes a whole lot more important. A simple mark on the ground becomes an afternoon's highlight, and a badly made sign can become the bane of your existence - not to be overly dramatic, of course. To be honest this shift in perspective sort of freaked me out at first, but now I pretty much enjoy every minute of it.

Personally I'm a fan of very simplistic design - clean, smooth lines, solid colours and overall minimalism. Why, you ask then, is my personal identity made of a splatter of messy, unorganised paint?

Well, my other passion is contradictions.

Actually, I feel that going against what you personally like is a really great way to find out that you like a lot more things than you started with. I have been hesitant in the past to use 'messy' media, but I actually enjoy it now! Who'da thunk.

Anyways, outside of design, my interests are pretty centralised still on communication; drawing, reading and writing. I like to do all three, usually in that order. The greatest writers (in my mind) are the likes of Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, and Neil Gaiman, not necessarily in that order. The greatest artists wouldn't fit on this page, infinite canvas or not.

I also enjoy going on tangents, but we'll leave that for another time.
