New Year’s Resolutions

I think we all know New Year's Resolutions are generally a load of shit. You make them, you break them, comedians make bad jokes about them, etc etc. Generally I don't bother because I know I won't follow through with them - 'get a six pack by July', 'be dating a cool dude very soon', move out on my own (oh yeah, did that one... Two years after making it)... The start of the new year just makes you feel overly optimistic, like you'll be a totally different person from midnight onwards.

You're not.

I know I'm not! My solution is to make my single resolution this year nice and simple: Never go for the biggest meal. It's something I am kinda guilty of, stemming back to when I first started making an independent income. Suddenly it was my meal, my money so I could get the large chips if I wanted to, it was amazing! No more "you only need a medium at most", I was a free man. Turns out this was a terrible, terrible idea.

It seems like over the last few months my actual hunger level has dropped, but my awful eating habits haven't. I'll still get the large drink, or the big chips, or the burrito instead of a taco (mmm, mexican food.). Half the time I get the 'uncomfortably full' feeling after this, and spend a decent amount of time trying to settle my stomach.

So, that's my resolution. Reduce my meal size. I'll still try and get more exercise, not eat junk food, all the other stuff it takes to get a more healthy body, but I won't set them as yearlong goals. Hopefully they'll come more naturally that way.

Wish me luck!
